Below is the text of a petition currently circulating in Marin County.
We really need your help! We must continue to push back against the installation of smart meters until they are stopped. The rate of installation is increasing now in Marin and is beginning in West Marin. It is completely unacceptable that these threats to our children and community’s health are being forced on our homes and neighborhoods! Once they’re installed it will be MUCH harder to reverse the process.

PG&E Smart Meter Halt, Review and Ordinance Petition
To: Marin County Board of Supervisors, Steve Kinsey, Susan Adams, Judy Arnold, Hal Brown, Charles McGlashan,
PG&E has already started installing an enormous wireless mesh network in Marin County! Utility poles will host the wireless repeater infrastructure to serve the new wireless PG&E Smart Meters, which will be installed in every home and business! These devices will add an exponential new layer of radio frequencies (RF) to our homes and environment and will emit RF radiation almost constantly. In light of the lack of FCC safety standards for chronic long term exposure to RF and in light of the of the studies showing adverse health effects and the call for the precautionary principle for wireless technology from global scientists, environmental agencies, advocacy groups and doctors, we, the undersigned, request you defend democratic choice against the imposition of unelected corporate power by:
1. Thoroughly investigating the PG&E Smart Meter potential health risks of these devices by holding public hearings.
2. Requiring PG&E to submit the specific characterization of the Smart Meter system planned for Marin County
3. Obtaining the Smart Meter health and safety study PG&E commissioned and make it available to the public.
4. Allowing customers to “opt out” of the program by neighborhood and region.
5. Halting all new wireless installations until a thorough, independent scientific health review, accepted by the community, proves they are safe and without health risk.
6. Protecting our privacy from invasion by PG&E selling our data to insurance companies & other third parties.
7. Honoring the Marin Community Plan’s commitment to the precautionary principle & to protecting Marin’s most vulnerable citizens – the children, elderly, the electro-sensitives, the sick.
8. Deactivating the RF function on those already deployed, including infrastructure.
9. Protecting Marin citizens with an ordinance banning electromagnetic trespass!

My friend Kim Bendis has been in touch with you, I think. We’re a grass roots in Naperville, IL, that is fighting our local public utility from installing smart meters.
We’ve spoken to some attorney’s interested in helping us. they’ve suggested we become a not-for-profit. do you have any knowledge as to whether we could pay a fee and become a “chapter” of EON? I am a member of the Holistic Moms Network, a 501c3, and we have 200+ chapters across the country. Any ideas on how to easily and quickly become a not for profit entity would be super appreciated. We are currently in a major fight with our city Naperville,IL over the smart meter. We lost a election hearing and upper court hearing few weeks ago which 4,200 petition signatures for a vote on the March ballot were thrown out. The deck was stacked in the rulings. The story is to long so our web site will explain what is happening here in Naperville. We filed a complaint for Injunctive Relief in Federal court which will be heard shortly. We have picked up much support from the residents of 144,000 which 90% knowns nothing about this meter. We are spending hours and days as a group getting the word out. The city has made threats of all sorts, even sending the police if you refuse installation. They have continued to install and have already put in hundreds since January 3. People are refusing but many just cave since the city has imposed a fee of $68.00 and then a monthly of $24.50 to read the meter

If you want the facts, you want to know exactly what to do, check out the Naperville website. We here in Decatur are following their lead to try to stop this HUGE invasion of privacy and HUGE health risk the installation of smart meters can and will cause. It is imperative that your neighbors get rid of their meters too because of the large coverage area these meters cover. If you don’t have a meter and all your neighbors do you aren’t much better off. So please visit the naperville site. And also we do have a ‘generic’ form that you can fill in by hand no matter where you live on our site, address above. Even if you live in an area where you have them already is it very important you take steps to get your community aware NOW! Before you have health issues, fires, loose your appliances and loose your privacy!!!! This meter is nothing more than big brother looking into your life and your home…… Think about this all you snow birds. You go off for 6 months in the winter, your meter is sending out signals that indicates there is very little power being used, some crook with a wireless device nabs your readings. You come home no TV, no jewelry, no nothing. It is almost as good for a crook as having your door key. Wake up America before it’s too late!!!!
